They claim to want the best for you, and that they want success for you
But only in the way that have deemed is best for you
They say they want you to rise but hope that you fall
So, they can pick you up dust you off and claim credit for it all
They work themselves to the bone to give you and easy life
But resent you as you live carefree without strife
Like why are you living without the struggle they tried to save you from
They’re not on your side it's one for all but not all for one
You wish no one ill will you want everyone to make it
But when they see you about to win their spirit can’t take it
They would rather drag you down then to see you rise without them
You’re going to reach the top regardless not because of but despite them
They’re your family your friends your coworkers your “people”
But they don’t think the same as you do, you’re unique and they are sheeple
They want you to do it their way even though it isn’t working
Misery loves company and your people are hurting
You’re a free spirit, and they can’t bear it because theirs is in a cage
but their story is unwritten they simply have to turn the page
or a new leaf and break away from what they were taught
but they’re too scared to do so they are feeling distraught
they want to do what you are doing but what’s stopping them is ego
they only know the old you, all they think is what does she know?
Herself her worth her path her purpose,
That what doesn’t bring you joy in this life is worthless
You’re not driven by the money or worldly possession
Take out a notepad class is in session
If you want to live the life you’ve always wanted to live
The price is your old life it's what you must give
You place in this world is everywhere you feel drawn to
You change every day the past you is gone boo
They want to figure you out and put you in a box
But they can’t seem to do it you’re fort freaking Knox
You’re not just one thing you have so many dreams
What meets the eye is not always what it seems
