Built to love.
Deep beauty outwardly serene
flows with utter grace sublimely elegant
humour fountains with the lightest touch
pierces my tired, jaundiced heart with its smile
and those eyes!
Renewing the depths
cleansing the cynicism
whole once more - the deepest of restorations
essentially required
built to love.
Kindness personified warms and comforts
chills in its absence
the deepest needs stirred believed lost yet awakened
the enveloping familiar
convinced of its death returns
the optimism - the joy
the deepest pain
the same old familiar anguish foreshadowed
despite all peril inevitably
built to love.
Desperately embracing the warmth
risking the fear
rejecting the old familiar living death
stoically cringing
from this creeping dismay
grasping onto this lonely forlorn hope.
We are of necessity forced
stubborn
ever human
built to love.
About the Creator
Jonny Evans
I quit the job, sold the house, and am now at university studying to be a writer. I have things to express and hope that the words might have meaning for others. I'm single, queer and a cancer survivor. Feedback welcome.
