Building a Stronger Heart

My hearts shattered and broken

Building a Stronger Heart

Stone by stone I gather,

and build what time destroyed.

Building a stronger heart,

from ruins left behind.

The cracks are many still,

yet mortar binds them close.

What once was weak and broken,

now dares to rise again.

I carve away the sorrow,

and shape it into strength.

Each scar becomes a lesson,

each wound a mark of fire.

Building a stronger heart,

means carrying the past.

Not hiding from its shadow,

but learning from its weight.

I lift the bricks of memory,

they cut against my skin.

Yet still I keep on building,

for I will not collapse.

The walls are slow in rising,

but every day they grow.

I feel the steady rhythm,

of courage finding voice.

And when the heart is standing,

with towers firm and true.

No storm can tear it down,

no wind can break it whole.

Building a stronger heart,

is slow but never vain.

For out of pain and ashes,

a fortress will remain.
