“Brown of the Bow”
Skin attached like elastic Godiva the good shit
Grew up on what they call hood shit
Realized my black was mixed with rainbow
Ventured to start a life in the know
To become the brown of the bow
•
Acceptance was a battle
Gray muck of unacceptance is quite the saddle
Yet with a heart full of love
Always looking to the rainbows above
Reach past the trauma past the pain
Start a life in the know
To become the brown of the bow
•
Along the way saw so many
The bow is filled with many like me
Brothers and sisters
All born from different Mrs. And Misters
The bonds formed are unexplainable
For most people downright unattainable
Some farther than others all of us in the know
Helping each other along being the brown of the bow
•
Justice is a passion that is for all
Equality has always been the call
Before the bow definitely during
Fighting for causes pledging all the endurance
Activism is red hot in the veins
Protecting those who need it is what I know
It is all I know
That is why I grew to be the brown of the bow
•
Rainbows don’t have brown
But who says they can’t?
So, I add my brown to ours
My brown of courage, humanity, forgiveness, and looking after the next generation of LGBT youth
