brown girls.

how i envision myself to be.

By Kassia RichPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

yea we were young girls,

with dreams of living in the ocean

with outfits made from flowers.

we were carefree,

stripping from the confines of our clothing

and screaming as we ran straight to the water,

uncaring of onlookers.

oblivious to those who saw our love for the ocean

as indifferent and odd.

yea we were young girls

brown skin that shimmered in the sunlight

and silk black hair that could only be contained when wet.

perhaps our love for the water was a bit exaggerated,

but there was nothing more beautiful

than being free to explore the liquid that pooled around our bodies

for as far as we desired.
