Brontosaurus
A Shakespearean Sonnetosaurus
Oh, gentle Thunder Lizard, noble beast,
Immense, yet dwarfed by others of your kind
Whose reign, as yours, mysteriously ceased,
Collectively, a race time left behind.

You had no taste for blood, nor urge to kill.
No massive canine teeth for shredding prey.
Instead, you chose to take your daily fill
From Mother Earth's botanical array.
~
Unlike your fellow grazers' armor plate
And horns and spikes and hardened carapace,
Your defense lay in length and girth and weight
And massive tail, pursuers to displace.
~
Alas, your gentle nature and great size
Were met with inescapable demise.
