Broken Wings

(part two)

Where the world meets the water, I lay still.

A gentle touch and warm voice, a sweet trill,

Back to broken vessel come my failing will...

There she knelt, an odd lady never seen.

From bright azure eyes came concern quite keen.

Picking me up, against her she had me lean.

We made our way, to place unknown to me;

Eclectic, random treasures: here they be!

Laid me down, but what she did I would not see.

Flashes of light and dark between quiet rest,

Visions... the strange lady doing her best.

Time passed, and my vessel healed, so I was blessed.

Yet my spirit stayed, hidden deep inside,

Then I would remember, then how I cried!

Where death would have rejoined us, I was denied...

She would sing quietly, and help me mend,

My body restored, but I sought the end.

Each bad moment, this lady her love would send.

Time passed, bringing brights day and colder nights...

She would take me outside, and hold me tight.

In my soul's darkness, she was my only light.

The days came and went, by the shore we walked...

Long nights- without a word! - she heard me talk,

And in between, soft music while I would sulk.

My body grew strong again, very soon,

My mind was lost with silvery moon,

My spirit refused to accept the new tune.

Waves rolling in storm, and sunny weather,

Endless water, a sorrow forever...

After all the loss, why weren't we together?

Burnt forests and stony cliffs rising tall,

Painful memories from the sky still fell...

We had ev'rything before, we had it all!

The strange lady, her strange home by the sea,

From her kindness, beauty... I sought to flee...

She had saved much of me, what's in it for she?

When she went out, I soon followed along,

Slow, silent tides, her only sounds a song.

Her journeys always different, always long...

I awoke one morning, felt fine indeed,

Lady by the Sea... gone! She left not a bead!

A voice, vision came... my late Queen had a need...
