"I love you"
Whispered the boy
Who claimed he could not love
False confidence blossomed in the girl
Believing the lie with every fiber of her being
She clung to those three heavy words
On the days where he exclaimed he no longer wanted her
On the days when contact was withheld
When he sat a foot away
Yet a gaping crater was between them
She yearned for his arms to surround hers
While her body ached for him
The girl held on to those hopeful words
When he told her he did not trust her
When he couldn't even kiss her
When she held back her tongue
Deciding not to speak the words that needed to be said
Out of fear of him leaving
She needed to here those fateful words again
The words she craved
Because she thought the boy who said he couldn't feel
Felt a wild fire for her
But who is the fool now?
It is the who still pines
Who still weeps
Who believed those words
Even when she was mentally beat
And Broken
She no longer craves
The words
Just the boy who spoke them
