Our Scars Give us Power

We are but two broken souls,

Burning shards like hot coals,

Shattered by hardship and pain,

Lost, with everything to gain.

*

Cast aside and set adrift in an icy sea,

Our tormentors chose to ignore our plea,

Fate wills our paths cross in these waves,

No longer bound to watery graves.

*

We crash into each other amidst the storm,

Surrounded by shipwrecks of the forlorn,

I reach out, desperate to take your hand,

Raindrops crash down like grains of sand.

*

Our skin, full of fractured creases,

We fit together like jigsaw pieces,

Broken pieces combine to create a soul,

But together, our broken parts make us whole.
