Broken from the Start

Broken from the Start

…won’t mean we can’t build again.

We were always family.

But our sisterhood — we built it ourselves.

We fought, laughed, and cried together.

We learned to respect and forgive each other.

But children we were.

And cursed from the start was our fate.

We saw their bond — it was flawed.

So in silence, we tried to build what never was.

Like them, we never wanted to become.

But like them, we were cursed — cursed to never be.

Some more than others.

For indeed, you’ve never trusted us.

Or worse, never trusted yourself.

And when the time to fight came,

We fought… and you ran.

Cursed from the start indeed we were.

You learned how to run.

We learned how to fight.

And to learn, you have to be taught…

Or at least, that’s what I thought.

For forgiveness, you’ve asked.

And forgiveness I’ve given — to the kid who was.

But for the woman you’re becoming,

Redemption has to be earned.

So fight for us —

like we once did for you —

And maybe then…

Broken from the start

won’t mean we can’t build again.
