Society teaches us that we cannot fail. Yet, it is part of life and is what truly teaches us what we need to know. The true question is how to cope with it. Here is a little villanelle about the fear of failure.

Chain with links so broken

With no hope to restore

Bring thoughts poor and words harshly spoken

Chain with links of rust

Tinkling metal heralds news

Learn the news we must

Chain with links disjoined

Takes some time to mend

With practice once again cojoined

Chain that is dismissed

Can still be called upon

Linked once again with a skilful twist

The broken chain unwanted

That no one deigns to see

Forms soul disenchanted

But can reign again, not daunted.
