It really is a green and pleasant land.
Not the towns, with drunken people, young and old.
The countryside is breathtaking.
I love Blackburn. It’s allegedly impoverished.
But the rolling countryside is its wealth,
Little puffs of trees and shrubs
Rolling down sloping hills,
Sheep grazing, their whiteness speckled over green, exquisite.
Cows, making the fields into chocolate box pictures.
The sun does shine and makes it into a paradise.
But no sun and it’s still a wonderful place to see.

Countryside is indeed beautiful, as is your poem. Well done
You painted such a beautiful picture here with your words! I loved it!
This is a very beautiful poem, hon. And very accurate. The British countryside is stunning and while Blackburn may seem impoverished, in terms of the scenery, it's beautiful.
Beautiful! I live in the Appalachian Mountains in the United States. These same mountains were once joined with your mountains in the UK during Pangea. From what I've seen in pictures, the US countryside and the British countryside are pretty similar landscapes, though your architecture has us beat by a long shot! I love living in the peace and quiet that the countryside has to offer. Wonderful poem.
