Bright colors for the darkest of times.
A poem about hope.

Walking through the darkness, silently wishing for company and comfort.
My only companion, my thoughts. Oh, what I wouldn't give for a friend and a hug!
Navigating the uncertainty of life, hoping for inspiration to light my path.
Overwhelmed by thoughts that are not my own, still too afraid to confront.
Steadily taking a stroll, stomping around while searching for hope.
Destination, unknown. Did I lose what we had? Perhaps, I just lost my path.
Skies parting, sun finally shining. Oh, the warmth! Just what I needed to cope.
Oh the joy! That heaven-sent shower of light that brightens my sight.
Reveling in its embrace, soaking it up before it fades; no time to mope.
Afraid of the guilt of enjoying, oh but for a moment I just might!
So take that moment, breathe it in. Look around you, it's all here.
Those bright colors in all the little things, they will make it clear.
The flowers, the skies, the people. The sounds, the smells, the feelings.
Peeking all through the darkest clouds that surround my mind,
Slowly bringing the warmth in and turning it all into hopeful seedlings.
The eyes that saw, the heart that felt and froze; it all begins to heal.
Now the darkness begins to fade and my breathing lightens as I leave it all behind.
Until one day, the darkness is gone and it's cristal clear: this light, this warmth... It's real.
For no matter when, no matter how nor why; if they're simply forgotten,
If they're seen or ignored, or even if I'm up or I'm down, alone or just lonely...
The bright colors of life will shed a light on how far I've gotten.
No matter the dark that appears to just be; I just know it'll show me.
I'll stop fighting and start believing; stop grieving and start living.
And with those bright colors as my guiding lights, I'll start my path to a new beginning.
