Brick Wall

your impossible

By The Invisible WriterPublished 4 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

The circles we've been tracing

around this place, are frustrating

these same traps, we keep falling in

Deja Vu of something

we should have faced long ago

the truth is we’re breaking.

You're a brick wall, and

I'm tired of banging my fist

against this same fight again

this same song, we've sung

this same melody, we've played

this soundtrack, we’ve worn out.

You're a Brick wall, and

I'm a ghost in this house

you couldn't see me

if I was a mouse

running across your toes

truth is I can't see you, either

we're both lost

You're a brick wall, and

this is the same dance

spinning round again

there's nothing new left

I never lead, you never follow

our love used to be full

but now we're just hollow

whoever said,

love was forever?

was never very clever.

You're a Brick wall, and

I'm tired of stubbing my toe

we'd both be better off

standing naked in the snow

there’s really nothing left

for us to say,

that hasn’t already been said.

You're a Brick Wall, and

we keep listening

to the sound of a

wind

we’ve both heard blowing

a thousand times.

You're a Brick wall, and

I've been counting

each one

just like the last one

they’re always the same

in this repeating game.

You're a brick wall, and

we’re both getting crushed

from the weight of it all.

why did we rush?

why did we think

we couldn't fall?

Your a brick wall, and

I keep asking how many times

can we say the same things

before we admit, this

was a mistake

or take a drive

together

to jump in a lake

You're a brick wall, and...

This was a heartbreaking and relatable piece for me Will! The repetitive language really lended to the overall impact of the piece, that melancholic feeling of knowing something isn't working and things need to change. Very well written! Good work!
