Breathe

When all colors are mixed you get black.

By Kadesha BarnardPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

To live in a world where all colors are appreciated and accepted would be the ultimate utopia. Until we fight to be heard and seen. After all when you mix every color you get black...

Breathe

All we need to do is comply

But with my hands up head down

Yes massa, still alive

Breathe

You’re scared of me

And I’m scared that you will never find the decency to love me

Breathe

Why you scared of me?

I’m trying to fight my own battles

Ones you created to get ahead of me

Breathe

While I still got this life in me

Can you find it in your heart to walk beside me?

Breathe

I’m only human

And just like you I got emotions and feelings

Breathe

Question...

What do you see when you look at me

A no good drugged out rapper wanna be?

Hmm...

Well what I want to be is free

Cut these shackles loose so I can walk to the store alone

Please

Did you learn this from yo momma?

Cause mine taught hymns and scriptures for times like this

She said baby girl keep your head up

God is listening and he’s always by your side

But did he get the dial tone so I can listen to you

Cause the world is in your favor

And I’m on the bottom of your shoe

But you’re trembling

And in my final moments I realize this must be God willing

But don’t shoot me.

Please don’t shoot.
