Borrowing Pieces of Today

Borrowing Pieces of Today”

Verse 1

I am living in this moment

As someone I wasn’t yesterday.

A little braver in the sunlight,

A little softer in the fray.

Every breath rewrites my story,

Every heartbeat shifts the frame—

I’m a thousand different versions

And no two days are the same.

Chorus

And tonight I’ll borrow pieces

Of who I am today,

Carry just the gentlest parts

Into tomorrow’s waiting day.

I don’t need to hold it all,

Some things I’ll leave behind—

I’ll take only what still serves me,

What brings peace to heart and mind.

Verse 2

I’ve learned that growing isn’t sudden,

It’s a quiet, steady climb—

A letting go of who I was

To make room for who I’ll find.

Some days I’m made of courage,

Some days I’m made of doubt—

But every version has a purpose,

Every shift is carving out.

Chorus

And tonight I’ll borrow pieces

Of who I am today,

Carry just the gentlest parts

Into tomorrow’s waiting day.

I don’t need to hold it all,

Some things I’ll leave behind—

I’ll take only what still serves me,

What brings peace to heart and mind.

Bridge

Maybe this is how we blossom—

Not all at once, but slow and true.

Becoming who we’re meant to be

By releasing what we’ve outgrown too.

And every dawn invites us

To begin again with grace—

To meet ourselves with kindness

In this ever‑changing place.

Verse 3

So here I stand becoming

Someone new with every dawn,

Gathering the lessons

From the places I’ve withdrawn.

And when the night grows quiet,

I’ll whisper to the stars I know—

“I’ll take what makes me kinder,

And let the rest go.”

Final Chorus

Tonight I’ll borrow pieces

Of who I am today,

Carry just the gentlest parts

Into tomorrow’s waiting day.

I don’t need to hold it all,

Some things I’ll leave behind—

I’ll take only what still serves me,

What brings peace to heart and mind.

Outro

I am living in this moment

As someone I wasn’t yesterday—

And tomorrow I’ll be someone

I’m just beginning to become today.a
