Born Anew

Born Anew

We are made metamorphic beings

From father’s seed to mother’s womb

We draw in what is old

To be birthed new into the world

-

From our moment of existence

We are but food for what comes after

Bodies broken down, bodies rebuilt

Taken from outside and brought within

-

And when we conceive our own

Bringing them into the world

We are re-made in their flesh

Life from what was to that which is now

-

Then in death and decomposition

The world exacts upon us the same metamorphosis

Below the water line, in earthen soil, on forest floor

Bodies broken down, bodies rebuilt

-

And born we are anew
