Born Again Criminal
I was once a man with a life of crime,
A thief, a liar, a crook all the time,
Breaking laws, I had no remorse,
Never thinking of the consequences, of course.
I lived my life with a sense of thrill,
Never caring who I hurt or killed,
Money, power, and fame was my goal,
And I didn't care about the toll.
I was caught and thrown into jail,
And I thought my life was an epic fail,
But it was then that something changed,
And my life was no longer deranged.
I met a man who talked of hope,
And he helped me to learn to cope,
He told me of a man who died for me,
And how his love could set me free.
I was skeptical at first, I must admit,
But the more I listened, the more I saw it,
The love of Jesus, the love of God,
And the power of grace to overcome the odds.
I asked for forgiveness, and I was reborn,
My old life was gone, and a new one was born,
I was no longer a criminal, but a child of grace,
And my life was now lived at a different pace.
I found a purpose in helping others,
And I no longer stole from sisters and brothers,
I became a man of integrity and truth,
And I lived my life as a living proof.
The love of God had changed my heart,
And my life was now a brand new start,
No longer driven by greed and hate,
But by love, and a sense of purpose that was great.
I am no longer a criminal but a man,
Who lives his life with a different plan,
To love, to serve, to give, and to care,
And to help those who are in despair.
My life is now a living testimony,
Of the power of grace and God's mercy,
And I am grateful for every day,
That I am born again in a brand new way.
