Bonded for Eternity

to the dog who got me to see that I can overcome any obstacle that comes hurdling into view

By 'Lissa StufflestreetPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Losing you;

the pain of that still hurts

to this very day.

God,

I wish I never had to

say goodbye to you.

You showed me

so many paths,

introduced me to

so many different adventures;

You truly were the one

who helped me to understand

that I could overcome all

that came at me.

You originally came into my life

as a way to mend the hole

left behind by the kitty

who deserved a longer life;

but goddamn it,

you ended up being so much

more than that.

You were something

that will forever mark you

as immortal in the book

that I call life;

the first service dog.

Washed,

of course..

you had the potential of

being a success,

if it wasn't for a couple of flaws

that we hit along the way..

but you were perfect,

Harley.

Even three years later,

with a new boy in my life,

on my mind,

you're still there..

living rent-free up there..

constantly making me feel as if

I did right by saying goodbye.

You were my first service dog,

Harley;

the one who helped for me to

overcome obstacles I never thought

I'd ever get a chance to overcome.

You did that.

No one else.

You.

No matter what,

or who,

comes in my life after..

I'll never forget about you.

God,

I wish I could see you

one more time.

I wish I could hug you

once more.

I wish we could curl up

together;

you stealing my pillow

as I snuggled into the

comforter.

To the one who helped me

fight against the obstacles

I never thought I'd overcome;

I thank you,

and I hope you know;

we'd forever be bonded..

for eternity.
