Boiling Point

A metaphor of emotional collapse

The pot on the fiery stove bubbles and churns

Steam leaves the boiling bowl softly

Contrary to the raging lake inside

Eventually ingredients rise

Hot peppers

Wormwood

Dashes of salt

Chopped onions

Each one colliding, mixing together under the heat

Eventually, the bubbling intensifies

Like the pot is feeding on the ingredients

Meat and potatoes

Bay leaves

Carrots

Now soft and lighter

Every ingredient now mashed together

Down comes the lid, keeping everything in place

The boiling only gets more chaotic as the lid covers the vapor

Burning scent now drifts in the air

A once pleasant smell

Now thickens, blackens

Burns

The pot and the stew suddenly explodes

Searing broth flies in every direction

Each ingredient hits the floor and walls

Every corner, ceiling and tile

Covered completely

The metallic bits of the pot now embedded

Window cracked

Countertop ruined

Stove destroyed

I just sigh and wonder

About the next day and on
