why did that oldies song

Have to belt out so enthusiastically,

“I’m gonna wash that man right outta my hair!”

When I wash my hands over my hair,

I feel like I am

That man

That was washed away,

Drowned away,

Shrugged away,

Lost.

Call me a shy guy,

Call me, “get lost, guy!”

My mom said I could have been called Matthew if I were born a boy,

Oh, boy

That sounds like a singer,

Or an artist,

Or a barista or guitar player.

It hits and I’m flooding in flowers.

It hits bad

When I’m in the shower,

Washing away, flooding my lower pressure

Churning, squelching,

(I can’t say it out loud, just wash it away)

Sometimes, I wanna wash my feelings away,

Down the drain.
