reveal to me your blue
all shiny and perfect: appearances deceive
the clouds cover much
blue is honest, naked, and real
it hurts
it’s true
but shared the sky is glorious
.
we walk the lane in silence
frightened of the truth
no one wants to see the hurt
no one wants to share the pain
dead leaves fall from awkward trees
ephemeral ideas of a season past
.
relentless and pure, blue is always there
I know it
bone-deep and forever
grasped against my belly
we share
what the sky exposes
.
we watch the ocean swallow
all of it
the blue, the sky
insignificant we turn away
indigo between us
