Hedy
Putting pressure on the petals,
sensing a familiar finesse,
under the languid & listless rolling rains,
tiny rivulets annex with their sisters,
the rose awakens, xylem & phloem flow with radiance,
like forest haemoglobin they throb with intent,
swollen & with purpose,
out of the garden and into the barracks,
over yonder, in the shadows,
ripe floral chaos by choice a seed,
sized & chosen by spirit & breed,
furious, deliberate and deep and deviant,
a cocktail of nectar and need,
while the stamens' stoic posture,
exact pollination,
through a scintillating chemistry and divided union,
until the rose,
is silent and replete.
