Blood Crow
A Poem
Look upon us
See our scars
From battles past
Yet, we are the ones that last
No false platitudes
Told we have bad attitudes
When all we are are mirrors
For the ways others treat us
Not one ever considers
How much they hate when their energy is returned
Willing to go the distance
Not out of resistance
But a sense of justice
A fair chance
To be given the same treatment as others
We’re all supposed to be sisters and brothers
Not othered and smothered
In your inadequacy
We were willing to bend over backwards
But when we’re gone
You miss us
