An Open Verse Poem:
No eyes, no sight.
A blind date tonight.
A date with a man I’ve never met;
time to move on, time to forget.
The man I once married
is now dead and buried.
He was the love of all my days.
Our romance was all the craze.
Now, to find love again I must
give into a friend’s good trust.
I cannot see the man before me.
But his smell draws me in like a bee.
We sit at a table with chairs.
I can’t tell if he looks or stares.
We dine on our food and wine.
He tells me that I look fine.
I tell him I cannot see a thing.
He says don’t worry; I’ll give you wings.
I love my husband in the ground,
But new love I might have found.
He walks me home to my door
not knowing what’s in store.
He kisses my cheek and says goodbye.
I stand there in awe with no reply.
I can hear his car door close,
And a feeling of joy arose.
I find the door handle and walk right in.
I go to bed and think what could have been.
What if my friend hadn’t set this blind date?
Would I still be in a depressed state?
A blind date tonight.
No eyes, no sight.
Everything is alright.
