Black Is Beautiful

America the Beautiful

By Linda AubertPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

“Black is beautiful”

They said

Like to convince someone.

Black man

Black woman

Black child

Pride.

Telling’ it

Like it was

Calling a spade

In arrogant shades

Of colorlessness

With beating hearts

And man-made fears

Hardly breathing

Through years

Of reparation

And tears of understanding.

Whose name

Is black?

African man

What color is that?

Wherefore

The eyes

That told

Negro people

Black with beauty

White with passion

Dark from

Dirty cold

And hateful ugliness

Black is beautiful?

America the beautiful.

Black is beautiful.
