Black cat
Black fur so sleek
Moving with gentle grace
Stopping to greet a hungry mouse
So kind
But with a swift and silent paw--ouch!
The hungry mouse now lies,
Its form within
The mouth.

I can’t be as clever as the black cat that moves silently. Sometimes I get angry without reason, but I try. One thing is certain— I don’t chase mice, only sympathy.
This poem is a deceptively simple and surprisingly impactful portrayal of nature's duality. "Moving with gentle grace/ Stopping to greet a hungry mouse/ So kind" The build of gentle imagery is brilliant. The sudden shift in tone, ending with "Its form within / The mouth," is perfectly executed, leaving a lasting impression. 🌞🩶🤎
Very description but yet a deep truth and less within it. Lovely poem ♥︎♥︎♥︎
"Moving with gentle grace" This is really true, when sinister plans hide behind graceful steps sometimes. Love your poem!
Ugh! I love cats but do not like them roaming, maiming and murdering; safe inside for them and birds. Great work Michelle!
