Black Boy Fly

A sky blue tranquility runs rampant in my mind

A red hot passion for my endeared ones and life entrenched throughout my veins

A healthy green body aura as I journey towards veganism, but before that, first stop vegetarian

A purple heart curiosity abundant, I hold my head up high and strive forward towards my goals

A yellow joyous energy sparks from my feet as I dance around the fire with my pals

A pink set of hands holds all with tenderness and care because I was never shown the same upon my earthly arrival

A beautiful black armour encases my skin, I forgive myself for walking slowly because at least I'm not walking backwards

A pure white innocence the sphere of my soul, the inception of a new beginning

A moment of reflection that I am able to be all these colors and more as a result of the sacrifices my ancestors made

For too long were they only the colors black and gray, black for the protection from the beating sun and gray the inner workings of their mind because of lack of freedom and individual expression

Thanks to their hard work and perseverance I am free
