it was so much easier
to live in polarities
life felt dreamier
lost in moral realities
I was so foolishly confident
I could pray it all away
guilt wouldn't be so persistent
if I was still "good," not something gray
but believing in these divides
left so many places
for cruelties to hide in my interior tides
I became my own judge, jury, and executioner
a lost cratographer
afraid of the depths I might uncover
