Black and White

Black and White

By Matt MarshPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

In black and white

Ink scratched to show contrast

Stark against the field of white

Black and bold, stories told,

Twitch of wrist will wrong or right

Beckons now the humble cursive

Follow close to see the tale

The hues in the universe live,

And the words provide the trail

Twist and arch, show the art,

And the colors blend the eye

Blue and green, sky and sea,

Where a dark cloud passes by

Ancient trees, and budding leaves

Blush and bloom of wild flowers

Left in black ink, brushed as you think

Black and white would have such power

Turn the page, see lust-see rage,

The red bleeds in the verse

And drains away, with words that play,

Until we are immersed

We clear our sight, and turn to fight

What now we shriek to face

Remind now quick, the shameless wit

Of pens colorful grace

Snap now from the vision, the mission you’ve just seen

Words drawn with such precision, accurate like no machine

And slipped beyond your stone walls, bringing colors now to life

A welcome sight to one and all, what’s found in black and white
