Dismal and dreary, there’s a need for escape.
Ice cold numb, alone it seems, against the dark skeletal mountain.
Shocked, surprised, surrounded by warmth, compassion, empathy.
Trying times to soldier on through, with the army of support.
Racing thoughts and fears melt away, peace comes home to roost.
A wonderful distraction, a distraction of love and grounding.
Ceases the voices of anxiety, grief, sorrow, and dark emptiness.
To bring instead tranquility, softness, and the gentle warmth of the sun.
In the world of solemn stones, statues, niches, and mausoleums,
On rainy gray days or solemn sunny days,
No one can take away the love and empathy that is the bittersweet distraction for all.
