Birthing Time
Acrostic poem entry in the eclipse challenge

Epidural touches, not her pain; red hair genetics shut off eumelanin
Chin-up child cradles womb, mother sighs while baby stalls
Labor nurse attempts reposition; declined by unborn explorer
Insistent one seeks passage in Wood-Dragon spirit; his time, his way
Pushing two hours; daughter smiles through contractions- zen is found
Sunny side up rotates clockwise when daylight meets dusk; seven fifty six
Enter dragon, face to earth, moon to sky; locks flare like mum, birth of son
...
This poem is dedicated to my daughter Crimson and her husband Anthony. On April 17 2024 at 7:56 (PDT) they welcomed a son, Oscar, weighing 7.1 lbs, measuring 20 inches.
My daughter's epidural failed due to her red hair genetics and my grandson was a sunny-side-up baby until he turned to a facing-down position last minute. Oscar Battaglioli is a baby born in the year of the Wood Dragon. 🐉🙏
