Birth and Death of Love

Then you left...

By Bekah JimenezPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I didn’t notice you at first,

But for you, it was love at first sight.

I was young enough to not want to be tied down.

You were old enough to know that was all you wanted

Forever

As long as it was with me.

In my soul, love was born for you,

Though it took much longer than you wanted.

I set about being the best wife I knew how,

Though I didn’t know much.

You provided what you thought you should

And we learned to work together.

Our goals became one. Our family grew.

It wasn’t easy but it was worth it.

We were together for better or worse.

Until death do us part.

I thought we were happy.

Then you left.

I begged you to return.

I begged you to try with me – to let me help you.

I tried so hard to figure what happened.

I asked you why.

You never answered.

You simply told me it wasn’t my fault.

You didn’t have to worry about anything.

You only worried about yourself.

You went home to Mommy.

I had to be Mommy.

I held our kids while we all cried.

I learned to heal and let you go.

Now you want to come back. You’re ready.

Are you kidding me?!

I can’t trust you. I don’t love you.

I don’t care what you want.

You didn’t care what we needed.

Love is dead. Buried in the ground where you left it.
