Tanka from my morning birdwatch

Downy Woodpecker photo by me
a frantic chirping
sweep the tired grasses for seeds
glacial winds rising
the steel gray sky is angry
a snow storm will be unleashed

This is a wonderful poem and a new form for me
Oh my goodness, the little guy is so CUTE! Thank you for capturing and writing about this.
Great! Loved your woodpecker. We have a similar one every day at our feeder.😊💗💕
A well-wrought poem! I see theose little fellas poking around in my yard sometimes, as well as the bigger red-headed variety. You might consider an essay for the "Through the Lens" challenge based on this pic or any other you have of wildlife. That's a nice photo! The woodpeckers always look so grimly determined.
Awww, that photo is so adorable! Loved your Tanka!
Ooooh, this gave me chills. Beautifully done. 💗
Perfect for the season. Great work and could feel the freezing cold.

Gorgeous work!💕
A vivid and chilling tanka! The imagery of frantic birds and the brewing storm is so alive, it feels like nature's drama unfolding before our eyes. Stunning work!
