Birds of a Feather

BIRDS OF A FEATHER

As I wait on tenterhooks

My patience as a tightrope

A fear of corset like strength

A black night to paint askew

Of clouds like dusty thunder

Will I get wet here I wonder?

Perhaps asunder you will see

A raven or two or more

An unkindness to be sure

But do my eyes deceive me?

Will the truth pluck my eyesight-

They may be crows flocking here

Is there a reason, do they know?

Are they here for me or you?

Is it one, or maybe two?

No - it’s a murder.

THANKYou for reading my poem, some fun facts for you, in case this poem didn’t make much sense 😃 (not that poetry ever needs to 🤪)

A group of Raven birds is called an unkindness and a group of Crows is called a Murder. Also, Ravens are known to be tricksters and Crows are considered a bad omen- they gather where there is death, some say even predicting death.

This poem was written based on the provided picture, but my research into those two types of birds is what really brought this poem to fruition.

Happy reading 🕊️
