Big Sky

Blue is the color

Big Sky

Big Sky

Blue is the color that draws me nigh

It’s been that way since I was just a little child

Laying on my back in the soft green grass

Looking up at the open sky

White clouds drift above my head

The changing play of form

As clouds take shape and take shape again

Out of the blue, they are reborn

With eyes big and wide, I’d watch transfixed

As birds on the wing flew by

I’d watch them until they became so small

They would dissolve in the open sky

Home, that’s never been a place for me

A person, a house or any form

It’s the infinite blue into which I am absorbed

And out of which I am reborn

Big sky big sky big sky

It’s been that way since I was just a little child

Laying on my back in the soft green grass

Looking up at the open sky
