They'll tell you not to date a poet,

and I guess they have their reasons.

See, poets are nice to fuck,

But you don't carry us through seasons.

All our words can make you dizzy,

It can be hard to keep our pace,

Can seem like our verbal acrobatics

Are meant to keep you in last place,

And I don't know how to fix it,

'Cuz that's just the way I am,

The words gush out like water,

My mouth a busted dam,

But after all this time, I guess,

If you don't know my heart,

Then I can use my lovely pen

To rip yours all apart,

'Cuz if you gon' believe it anyways,

I might as well just do it.

Don't date a poet, don't you dare,

'Cuz we gon' put your ass through it.
