Waiting for
the shoe to drop
the slipper twap
back of the head slap
THUD! TWAP! BAP!
What will it take
for me to learn?
How many starts
and ends?
Before I realize
I can only count
on myself as I am
my own
best friend!

I love the humour, especially as one who may have felt a slipper upside the head at some point. But seriously, it's true that you have to be your own best friend. Well done, Sam.
I am so lucky to read this.
We should be, and we are our own worst critics
He he he, love the humor and the serious relatable message. Lol I stay singing Beyoncè “ Me, Myself and I” (I sing it off-key, but still be singing like I really mean it lol) . Excellent poem.
Wow! Don't make me take my shoe off... I've heard that before.😉
Great, I like your writing style
Profound and sad in a way, Sam. I hope you do have the best friend in real life that you can rely on, always.
In the end, we only have ourselves. Loved your poem!
Powerful...
Heartfelt and Well-written!
A true friend would help you hide the body. 😉
I loved those last lines so much!!! Yours is a much better use of the shoe!!
