Beneath the Midnight Veil

On the Persistence of Haunted Love

I see her eyes in every midnight flame,

A vision carved upon my weary mind

No passing year can still the dreadful claim.

The walls resound when I repeat her name

A curse unbroken cruelly intertwined

I see her eyes in every midnight flame.

The grave is cold yet grief is not the same

It binds the soul though earth has long confined

No passing year can still the dreadful claim.

I walk the halls where silence knows my shame

Each step betrays the solace I can’t find

I see her eyes in every midnight flame.

I prayed for peace yet anguish ever came

A chain that time refuses to unwind

No passing year can still the dreadful claim.

The night consumes the prayers I dare to frame

Its hollow silence answers in my mind

I see her eyes in every midnight flame.

No passing year can still the dreadful claim.
