Beneath Bright Colors

Illustrating Life with Anxiety

Yellow dances in my soul,

Hazy, gauzy,

A summer sun on rippling water.

Flowers bloom within my heart,

The colors, life -

A silent symphony of new hope.

Clothed in soft pink are my eyes,

Rose-frosted lenses,

The windows through which beauty abounds.

And then,

Beneath the light,

The joy,

The life,

Behind guarded, gilded gates,

Dark colors lurk,

In the shadows - slithering, creeping.

Behind guarded, gilded gates,

Dark colors scheme,

Reaching with scaled hands through bars breaking.

Sewage green spills forth flooding,

The garden now spoilt,

A cacophony of sludge and fear.

Murky brown water - unboiled,

Seeps into soil,

Once nutritious black - now stinking mud.

But then,

Rising again,

Pushing past filth

And fear.

Healing warmth courses through veins,

Breathe in- yellow -

Breathe out - brown -

Breathe in - blue -

Breathe out - grey -

Yellow dances in my soul,

Flowers bloom within my heart,

My eyes in pink.

My body alight.

Oceans calm now -

Shining white.
