Behind the Veil of the Soul

A Ghazal of Waiting, Wind, and Unseen Return

By Rahatweb WebsitePublished 6 months ago 1 min read

This ghazal reflects a timeless waiting. It's the voice of someone caught between what was never seen and what is still hoped for. The speaker has become part of the dust, the wind, the night, and the sacred call that echoes through longing. It is about quiet faith, invisible love, and the persistence of the soul’s gaze beyond time.

I lingered not in your eyes, nor in time’s retreat,

I became dust, carried by wind and street.

I closed a thousand windows, but still, for you—

My heart reopened a night with the call’s faint hue.

I never saw you, yet life passed in doubt,

Between your coming and not, my faith moved about.

And if you return, O love, be not ashamed of delay—

I have waited behind the veil of soul, night and day.
