Behind the Sweater

(Verse 1)
In the summer heat, I wear my disguise,
Heavy sweaters tight, hiding all the lies.
You said I was bad, made me feel so small,
Each bruise you left, a shadow on the wall.
(Chorus)
Oh, the marks that you gave, I learned to conceal,
In a world of laughter, none of it felt real.
You pointed the blame, said it was my fault,
But deep in my heart, I knew it wasn’t all.
(Verse 2)
You laughed at my pain, in the glow of the sun,
Whispers of shame, saying I was the one.
“Hide them away, no one must see,
What a terrible child you’ve turned out to be.”
(Chorus)
Oh, the marks that you gave, I learned to conceal,
In a world of laughter, none of it felt real.
You pointed the blame, said it was my fault,
But deep in my heart, I knew it wasn’t all.
(Bridge)
Now I’m breaking free, shedding the weight,
No more hiding wounds, no more feeling hate.
I’ll turn my pain into a source of light,
These scars tell a story, they’ll help me ignite.
(Chorus)
Oh, the marks that you gave, I’ve learned to embrace,
In a world of healing, I’ll find my own place.
You pointed the blame, but I’ve found my voice,
From the ashes of shame, I will rise and rejoice.
(Outro)
So here’s to the child who learned to stand tall,
Through the bruises and shadows, I won’t let them fall.
With every new sunrise, I rewrite my tale,
A heart that was heavy now begins to sail.
