Before the Swarm

A Poem

By D351Published 2 years ago 1 min read

In this swamp we build a temple

To gods too old for us to know

Reigniting ancient candles

Taking solace, leaving bones

Behind five gates

Cradled by infinite stars

We spin our fates

And mend our scars

We cannot be stopped

We are not moving

Out truth is taught

In simply doing

Mourning the day the snows will cease

And spawn the biting flies

Holding close to the moment's peace

Before the rising tides

In this swamp we build a temple

To gods too old for us to know

Reigniting ancient candles

Taking solace, leaving bones
