Before it started to heart

Before it started to heart

"Before it started to heart,

When days were simply bright,

Before the shadows grew long,

And turned to endless night.

When laughter flowed like rivers,

And smiles were pure and true,

Before the storm clouds gathered,

And skies were always blue.

Before the whispers of doubt,

Crept into gentle minds,

Before the roads we traveled,

Diverged in unseen lines.

When love was just a promise,

And hope a distant star,

Before the dreams we cherished,

Seemed somehow very far.

Before it started to heart,

We danced in fields of gold,

In a world of endless wonder,

With stories yet untold.

But time it marches onward,

And hearts they learn to feel,

The beauty in the sorrow,

The pain that makes us real.

For in the darkest moments,

A strength begins to grow,

A wisdom born of heartache,

A love we come to know.

So though it started to heart,

And tears have had their part,

We find within the aching,

The courage to restart."
