Becoming our Best

An abstract of power

I look at the stars and see their light,

How they brighten up the sky.

They are gases burning hotter

Than I can see in my mind’s eye.

***

I watch as the moon toys with the sea,

Creating beautiful waves.

Gently caressing sand one second

Then dragging boats far away.

***

I ponder at the cloud factories,

As I called them as a child.

Our homes and jobs are fuelled

By them blackening the sky.

***

I tut at the government;

They speak their fancy words.

Wittering and twittering

And making us their herds.

***

I marvel at the wordsmiths,

Who create worlds within my mind.

They type out things that make us howl

And show us how to be kind.

***

Every one of us has power,

It’s buried in our chests.

If we just stop and look inside

Maybe we can become our best.
