Beauty In The Dark

Reimagined

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

Shadows and doorways

Secrets and lies

Love, lust and foreplay

Followed with goodbye

Sweet, stolen moments

Simply traded away

Begging for atonement

And those yesterday’s

When you promised forever

With that smile on your face

And then broke my heart

Shattered it like a vase

Languid and bittersweet

You gave my pain taste

With hidden intent

Your poisoned tongue, laced

I could never have dreamt

The evil that hid neath your face

Or there was ill in your intent

That would evolve into hate

But time heals the heart

And the emptiness fades

Revealing new starts

And erasing the pain

Opening new doors

Letting the sunlight break through

Changing who I was before

I was infected by you

You are who you are. Good job.

  • Yep, that's me. Like a bad case of herpes, I may go into hiding from time to time, but you know I'm gonna pop out sooner or later. (Sorry, it's just what came to mind.)
