A once golden heart bloody and broken
By lies and broken promises lying upon the floor of a once happy home,
Wings torn and clipped by abuse and turmoil, once so elegant
now scarred and worthless.
A warm smile hides the pain endured behind blue eyes.
A beautiful soul, destroyed by an angel
In the guise of a trickster
Mischievous cruel and unforgiving
A windblown in, from the east
Blowing off the cob webs, and dust upon the carcass
Left behind by a vulture.
A helping out stretched hand from a stranger
Another angel, sent from above
Mending the wounds she did not create
Erasing the scars she did not cause
Rebuilding the heart she did not damage
Showing the soul
once torn and dismembered
It is not simply damaged
It is beautifully damaged
The scars upon the heart
The scabs on the wings
And the ashes in the eyes
All glow clandestine in the dark.
Knees trembling
Body battered
Mind twisted
Heartbroken
The man asks, “Angel?
Are you another trickster in disguise to hurt me?”
The Angel beams a smile down at the man, he asks again
“Angel can I trust you with my heart.”
Again the Angel just smiles.
