Be Yourself
A poem about overcoming bullying in school

Some kids may try to make you feel bad They may say things that make you sad They may judge you by how you look or act And make you want to change or hide, in fact.
But don’t listen to what they say You are awesome in your own way You have a personality and a style And you can always make others smile.
So be yourself and don’t be afraid Don’t let them make you feel dismayed You have friends who love you for who you are And they will always be there for you, near or far.
Sometimes they may try to hurt you more They may spread rumors or start a war They may exclude you or make you feel small And make you think that you don’t belong at all
But don’t let them win the fight You are stronger than their spite You have a voice and a choice and a right And you can always stand up for what is right.
So be yourself and don’t back down Don’t let them make you wear a frown You have allies who will stand by your side And they will always help you fight the tide.
Remember that you are not alone You have a family who supports you at home You have a talent and a passion to pursue And no one can take away your value.
You are amazing and wonderful and cool And you have the courage to rule So be yourself and don’t give up And don’t let the bullies stop your fun.
