Battleground

Home is not always a comfort zone

Sibling rivalry at every family gathering and someone ending up black out drunk.

Dysfunctional yet happy,

at least that’s what everyone thinks.

One day it’s loud, one day it’s quiet.

One day it’s a mix of emotions and it feels like a riot.

But it’s what keeps us all together,

The familiarity of it all.

It’s what creates a home inside all these walls.

Maybe it’s not healthy to you, but it is normal to me.

It’s what I grew up around, and who I’ll grow up to be.

Home to me is a battleground, shaking my world upside down.

But it’s where I feel most safe and heard,

It’s where I feel that I belong.
