Masks

Our masks need stripped

It’s been awhile

(I need to)

Expose my birthday suit

And smile

The falseness ripped

Expel the bile

All self doubt ripped

Remove denial

(I’m done, I quit)

Playing pretend

It’s lost its zeal

I want it to end

To feel what's real

Show you inside

And not fear you run

(How nice to)

Finally decide

And un-cock that gun

Unload and put away the trash

Coming undone

And be free at last

Shed my fear

(Pressed against the glass)

Future ahead

Freeing the past

Open the blinds

Let everyone see

Destroy the mask

And just be me

Reaching the point where we feel comfortable and confident in our own skin should be celebrated. What a powerful message.

Raw and liberating. This piece strips everything down to truth. Bold, vulnerable, powerful

  • I love it when good people truly reveal themselves to me. I try to be like that as well. Excellent words
